The Vienna City Marathon is the largest marathon in Austria. Participants from 125 nations celebrated a great runner’s event with ideal outdoor conditions. In 2018 in collaboration with Erste Bank und Sparkasse a sensational branding was created on Reichsbruecke. 2019 Pixelrunner was asked to excel by staging the hashtag #glaubandich (#believeinyourself) even larger. Subsequently, it was decided to decorate the Reichsbruecke with a 1.200 sqm. large #pixelprint.

The closing of the Viennese Reichsbruecke took place at 5 A.M., the starting signal of the Vienna City Marathon at 9 A.M. The Pixelrunner team had a total of 4 hours to print the hashtag across four lanes. Every movement had to be efficient and ideal in order to meet the deadline.

An additional important item was that the Pixelprint had to be able to be easily removed leaving no traces directly after the event. As the Pixelrunner event colors were designed exactly for this use case and water-based this was no hurdle. After the last finish, the Pixelprint was removed with a customary street cleaning machine of the MA48. Time was still of the essence as the roads had to be reopened soon after the event.

“Pixelrunner is a great tool for large events such as the Vienna City Marathon”
